H.I.P.S. & E.P.C.s
Home Information Packets and Energy Performance Certificates are now required for all rental and for-sale properties. This works to your advantage because more people are seeking energy-saving homes in which to live.
EPCs are a mandatory part of every HIP, and are valid for ten years, although you may request an EPC even if it is not required for your property if you would like to know how your building measures up concerning energy performance, and to see where improvements can be made.
The EPC program was introduced as part of the ongoing efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the UK and across Europe. Buildings produce over half of the carbon emissions in the UK. Having the energy performance of these buildings assessed and improved upon will greatly help to reduce climate change.
After the energy performance check, each building is given a rating from A to G. Buildings with an A rating are the most energy efficient, and those given a G are the least efficient. The average building currently falls within the D range.
Assessments should be carried out by accredited energy assessors, who will produce the EPC itself, along with a report suggesting changes that would improve the building’s energy rating. Some public buildings will be required to have an EPC display certificate placed in a location that is visible to the public.
With Pares Building and Property Services, acquiring a HIPs or an EPC has never been easier. Our accredited energy assessors will carry out all inspections and provide you with the EPC for you building, along with a detailed report of their findings and suggestions for improvement where appropriate.
